Attracting gearheads from all over the nation for almost 22 years, the Rock and Roll Car Show at the Pavilions of Scottsdale is still holding its prestigious event every Saturday night.

Mark Kramer, President of McDonald's of Scottsdale, said in a phone interview, the car show started out with 15 original members.

The first gathering of the car show began on April 15, 1990, in Mesa, Arizona.  When the car show moved to the Pavilions next to McDonald's, word got out about the gathering of such car enthusiasts.

The numbers of the attendees began to increase every week, Kramer said.  Almost 100 cars were showing up at the gathering by the third week of the show according to Kramer. “The car show draws all sorts of people,” Kramer said.

An event such as a car show that hosts hundreds of people every weekend is not without its safety and organization concerns. Kramer said that on any given night there would be one or two off duty police officers present at the event.

When the Barrett-Jackson Auction is in town, Kramer will look up his old time friend of 24 years Craig Jackson, who is the CEO of the Auction Company to help promote the car show as well as the auction event, Kramer said.

In the Summer, there will be approximately 300 cars only, due to the heat.

However; in the Winter that number will double to an approximate 600 to 700 cars and 150 motorcycles taking up eight or nine parking aisles, Kramer said.

This car show is for all car enthusiasts; it hosts a variety of cars and bikes. It welcomes anyone who shares a passion for fine motor vehicles.

The car show is open every Saturday starting from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. So bring in your coolest ride and enjoy the show.
